Zmijanje embroidery course

Posted on Mar 10, 2016

In order to preserve cultural heritage and to make the old and traditional crafts approachable for today’s youth, ethno village Ljubačke Doline is organizing the Zmijanje embroidery course for the students of the elementary school “Milan Rakic” from Ljubačevo. The response of girls surprised both the people from the village and the teachers from their school. The course is led by Jadranka Brankovic, whose Zmijanje embroidery works can be seen in the ethno museum, and can be bought in our shop, as well. The embroidery made by the pupils of the elementary School “Milan Rakic” are not for sale. Some of those works are framed and exhibited in the ethno museum and some adorn the walls of their homes. Traditionally, the Zmijanje embroidery is used to decorate female costumes, including wedding dresses, scarves, garments and bed linen. Members of a music band named “Intime”, Ljubomir Perisic from Nikšić and guitarist Zoran Komjenović, shot a video for their first song “Banjalucanka” in the Ethno village Ljubačke Doline. The camerawork lasted for 3 days under the Žarko Kalabe’s direction. The text of the poem was written by the popular actor Andrija Milosevic, a great friend of Ljubomir Perisic. He points out that beside his hometown Nikšić, he is particularly emotionally attached to Banja Luka where he spent many years. The music band “Intime” has existed since 2008, and it is really unique that the agreement about creating a band was made in one tavern in Banja Luka. So far, they have performed throughout the region but they mainly performed cover songs, so “Banjalucanka” is the first song under their copyrights. Ethno Village Ljubačke Doline perfectly fits into this love song, so the whole story along with the quality of sound and melody was completed by beautiful shots from Ljubačke Doline. You can see how it all worked out in the video...

The ethno village-museum Ljubačke doline was introduced to the public on Tourism Fair in Belgrade. The presentation has been organized by Touristic organization of Republika Srpska and touristic organization Banja Luka, and it was included in the offer of a new cultural destination. The Ethno Village Ljubačke doline is an open-air museum on the one side that traces the development of the dinar mountain homes with all the facilities (houses, barns, a pantry, vajats (houses for sleeping), a corn storage facility, a stable, a shepherd’s cottage, a tool shed and an agricultural machinery garage, an apiary, a distillery, etc.). The village consists of around 30 authentic buildings, transferred from various locations to the south of Banja Luka. They have been furnished with authentic furniture and objects of traditional everyday usage. The village further includes: Blacksmith’s and carpenter’s workshops, a mart, an inn, a school, and a museum.
